“Like to Hike”

About Us

“Like to Hike” has developed in 1994 from a German-French circle of like-minded friends in Munich. By now this association has become a registered association called “Begegnung in Europa – Verein zur Verständigung e. V.” (European Encounters – Association for Mutual Comprehension) and it has now just under 100 members.

It is our common target to make a contribution to friendly relations and positive mutual understanding between the people in Europe. We would like to achieve

  • happiness through being together
  • learning about the lives of others, their problems and their way of seeing things
  • mutual comprehension between various nationalities or ethnicities
  • a commitment to reach multi-cultural harmony

Walking together has always been the basis of all our activities: we have been able to develop an extended network of like-minded people.

We offer two main sorts of activities:
In Munich we strive to further encounters with people from all the different communities living together in our city. We meet not only during our walks at weekends, but also at our round table evenings to learn more about the lives of others and to get closer to each other.

In France, Wales and Germany we organise hiking weeks with the locals and thus get information about the social and (multi-)cultural charcteristics of a region. Moreover people are encouraged to learn and/or speak foreign languages.

We are really happy about the warm welcome and the generous hospitality we receive in all areas where we go and that more and more people join our activities. We hope to be able to add more European regions to the list of our existing destinations in the future.
